On November 14th, at the annual hot air balloon festival held in Dongzhi, Myanmar, the hot air balloon was swallowed up by fireworks. It is reported that the hot air balloon carries a full 18 kg of homemade explosives.

The purpose of the festival was to sprinkle a series of fireworks after the balloon was lifted up and perform to the jubilant crowd, but the balloon suddenly exploded and eventually fell from the sky 300 feet (about 90 meters) to the ground, which should have been performed in the sky. The fireworks smashed to the crowd celebrating.


A video present was recorded by a present performer. The video shows that the hot air balloon is slowly lifted off and the fireworks bloom from the inside. Then, the hot air balloon suddenly exploded in an instant, and the fireworks that splattered everywhere sprinkled like a waterfall, and the hot air balloon fell and burned. The scene sparked and the hot air balloon burned into a big fireball. The crowd was filled with screams and crying for help. People fled and searched for safe places to escape.



Every year in mid-November, at the German Light Festival in Dongzhi City, Myanmar, colorful hot air balloons cover the sky and celebrate the end of the rainy season. The Hot Air Balloon Contest is an important event for the Myanmar Lantern Festival, held five days before the full moon in November. Hundreds of large hot air balloons compete each year and become the largest hot air balloon festival in Myanmar. According to local media reports, the organizers will invite participants to fly some hot air balloons filled with fireworks at the festival, and then bloom in the air, indicating the beginning of the new season.
